Phew. Wow. What a rush… My life has been a whirlwind and I know you’re getting sick and tired of hearing me say that, but now I finally get to tell you what I’ve been up to.

I MOVED!
.
.
.
Yes, I moved, but not just across town. I moved across the country! I left central Pennsylvania where I was born and raised my entire life and moved 14+ hours away to Memphis Tennessee. And this my dear reader is why my life has been a jumble.
I’m naturally a pretty private person so I’m not one to tell every detail of my life to my fans and readers. I’m more cautious and like to see how things pan out before I spill to you guys. The truth is my husband and I have been planning this move for nearly 2 years. (Even before I published The Dark Ruler) I’ve been very secretive with you all, but I promise to give you the story now.
Back in the early COVID times, my dear husband was searching for a career change. He came to me one day in the middle of heavy lockdown and said that he wanted to go back to school. I was hesitant because of the money that would be involved, but ultimately, we decided to go for it.
This new career path meant approximately 2 years worth of pre-requisite classes and then 4 years of a graduate program. I was definitely freaking out as we faced this 6 year commitment. But he got started on the pre-requisite courses right away and we began searching for a school where he could eventually do his 4 years. As people in our 30s we knew that we would have to fully pay for this degree ourselves so I’ll be honest with you, we basically looked for the most inexpensive school we could find.
Fast forward to December of 2021. We narrowed down our search and he applied to a handful of school. My brilliant husband was excepted to several schools so then he only had to choose where he wanted to attend. You can see where this is going. We ultimately decided to move to Memphis in order to attend a reasonably priced college. Anybody else out there paying for college right now?? Tuition is no joke…
Anyway… we made the tough decision to move away from all we know and love and come to a new city where we know exactly zero people.
Part of the madness over the last few months was us actually moving twice. We moved in with family members temporarily in April and then moved again in July. So you can understand now why I’ve described my life as being a jumble. I desperately hoped that I wouldn’t need to use my mixer cuz I had no clue where it was.
Saddest of all, I had to pack up all my bookcases and I could unpack them for MONTHS! It’s been tough friends. If you’ve ever made a big move like this you know how stressful it can be. Stress does not go well with creative thought which is why I shared with you last month some of my writing challenges.
I’m hoping that now that we’re settled, The Crimson Witch will come to me more easily. I have some exciting things planned for the launch and I’m looking to do some stuff with YouTube again!
I want to say a big THANK YOU to each of you for sticking with me during these life changes. You all are the best and I love that you care about me as much as you care about Camilla!
Bye for now,
Emily
