If you’ve been keeping up with me the last few months then you know I went through a pretty major life change. My husband and I moved across the country so that he could attend Pharmacy school. It’s been an adventure… I’ve already had to kill 2 cockroaches… (send help) I also struggled throughout that process to stay focused on my writing and on The Crimson Witch (book #4 in the Camilla Crim series).
Now that we’re settled, I’m back into a writing routine and making decent progress on The Crimson Witch. I’ve been keeping my Street Team group informed of my week-to-week progress and they’ve been an awesome encouragement. In case you don’t know who my Street Team are, they’re a small group of people that help me launch my new books. They love to read and they’re super detail oriented and somehow seem to catch SOOOOO many of my mistakes! They’re awesome and I couldn’t launch my books without them. If this sounds cool to you and you’d like to apply to be on the team you can do that HERE.
Speaking of book launches…
Back at the beginning of the year I made a goal to complete and publish The Crimson Witch in the fall of this year. Of course, at that time I didn’t know for sure if we would be moving and I didn’t know where we’d be moving to. Needless to say, the big move took more out of me than I expected. I quickly figured out that a fall launch date prooooooooobably wasn’t gonna happen.
But not all is lost, friend. I’ve re-adjusted my goal and decided to come up with a new launch target date. So after a lot of thought, I plan on launching The Crimson Witch in….
March 2023!
As I explained to my Street Team (sorry I keep talking about them!!!), I didn’t want to launch too close to Christmas and the holidays and I didn’t want to launch in January because I did that for The Dark Ruler and frankly, I just didn’t care for January as a launch date. I don’t know if it’s because it’s always a glum month or what.
So I settled on March. A spring launch should be fun and I hope you all follow along on the journey. As a way to celebrate the announcement of my new launch date, I’ve decided to share a little snippet from The Crimson Witch. I JUST wrote this section last night so you’re getting it hot off the press. Enjoy!
Creepy right? My writing always gets creepy when Portia enters the scene. This book takes on a whole new tone than all the other Camilla books. There’s something about the consistent presence of Portia in this book that makes it take on a darker and more sinister mood. Camilla’s greatest enemy is no longer flesh and blood, but the magic she discovers.
Ah! I hope you’re getting pumped, because I’m so excited to share this book with all of you! It reveals a lot of secrets that have been buried for four books so far. Annnnnd here’s something else to look forward to. I’m hoping that by next month I’ll have a book cover to show you all! Will it be red? Yes of course!
Okey dokey enough screaming. See you next month when we officially enter spooky season!
Bye for now,
Emily
